How to run Youtube in the background on iOS

YouTube stops once you lock your iPhone. In Android, there are many apps which help us listen to YouTube video in the background, I have become addicted to it. So as I am in a phase of moving to iPhone wanted to find a solution to it.

There is a simple way to get around the issue. Use your phone's default browser, Safari:

  • Open Safari and go to 'YouTube.com'
  • Now search for the music video you want to listen to
  • Tap the 'AA' icon in the address/search bar Choose 'request desktop site' from the drop-down menu
  • Hit 'play' on your video
  • Lock your phone and video will stop but don't worry. Open control panel from lock screen and hit play on music playback widget.

This a workaround to play videos in the background as just audio on YouTube. Try out and do let me know if you like it. Also, let me know if there is any better way to do this.

Nice! But actually you can do the same with chrome if you want. Tap options below and request desktop site :)
