It depends on what I’m doing, but it boils down to “follow the dopamine”.
If I’m working on something that is extremely challenging or frustrating, I might spend less time in front of the computer — this lets my mind work on some of that stuff in the background. On these days, I may only work 4-5 hours, but when I come back to the computer the next morning I’m usually far more productive than I was the previous day.
If I’m working on something that’s easy or fun, I might end up getting lost in it and working 12 hours without realizing.
