So you're given a task and need to quickly draw up a design or manage a flowchart for a project. Here's a tool that you can run locally, share designs with coworkers, and quickly sketch up anything you need to brainstorm a solution.
Excalidraw is a lightweight web application that you can quickly draw up designs for whatever you're working on. I typically will use it to make flowcharts and front-end mockup designs.
Take a look at these cool designs:
The interface is minimal and easy to use; it almost feels natural. So I'll just get to the meat of the installation process for running the app locally.
$ git clone https://github.com/excalidraw/excalidraw
$ cd excalidraw && npm start
Ta-da! Now the app will automatically open in the browser for you to draw.
If you're running the app locally, you can save your work as a json file to share with others.
Go to the public access excalidraw and open your json file.
Now that it is loaded on the public excalidraw web app, you can use their link sharing.
You now have a shareable link to collaborate and work on sketches within your team.
This app is so easy to use and completely free and open-source. You can make contributions and report issues here on their GitHub.
