1600 sounds fine to me. I tend to me less likely to read something immediately if it's longer than short with how short my attention span in these days, but especially with dev.to's reading list feature, I think it's fine to go a little long. Especially if (like it sounds) it's you explaining something that could be even a little difficult to understand, it's probably better to err on the side of long to give yourself time to explain everything really well.
