Why do ppl often add extremely short posts to their reading list?

Depends - I know the reason I've done it on occasion is when the post contains links to further reading and some additional context; I already have a tab management/bookmark problem, it saves me from having to write my own notes, and also allows me to attribute back to the original writer who made me aware of said knowledge.

The first two reasons that popped to my head - Perhaps they:

  1. anticipate an interesting discussion to arise in the comments
  2. use the reading list as bookmarks

The Save button is right there ... Unlike the heart and unicorn buttons that require you to get into the post.

You see the post, want to investigate a little more on your own, save it for later. Or the comments, as others pointed out.
