What's Your One Thing?

In the book The One Thing, authors Jay Papasan and Gary Keller ask

What’s the one thing I can do such that by doing it, everything else will be easier or unnecessary?

If you said "no" to multitasking and "yes" to pinpointing what truly moves the needle, what would your "one thing" for today be? For this month? And what about long term? What's that one focus that could make all the difference?

My thing is being the random cat furry dev that never seems to accomplish anything, despite how frequently they post.

Surprisingly, my career on DeviantArt is more successful than my career on GitHub or DEV.

Enjoy the day as if it were your last (And I don't mean in the sense of going out doing crazy things or something like that, but really enjoying it, experiencing good things, taking advantage of the good people we have around, things like that).

For me right now, it's got to be a personal project I'm working on, a one I've been working on for long now, but still dedicating most of my time for does in fact has the highest level of contribution for my technical growth in various areas within programming.

In my personal opinion, as someone who read the book, I actually admire the idea of pinpointing my energy and concentration towards one thing only at a time. The way I'd do it is I'd allocate the largest chunks of my time, for the most important thing I currently have, it could be a project, a feature in another project, or a learning objective. Dedicating a week, or maybe couple of months for a project or an idea and pouring ur energy on it will yield back more refined results in the long run.

Doing so doesn't mean u only do ONE THING and one thing only, u will still have some time & energy to spare on other tasks, it's different from multi tasking where u abide by many projects, tasks and objectives within the same day. But having a one big thing and also keeping spare time for "the things", is very viable if u know how to traverse and manage ur daily work well.

Building up the courage to seek an autism diagnosis and in the meantime, attempting to unmask so I can live a more authentic life. Denying who I am hasn't worked for me so far, so time to try a different strategy!
