I agree with this entirely. As a teacher, I sometimes see students try to put off doing homework and "catch up" later, only to find they were too far behind. I've also seen a handful of academic integrity cases I can't discuss, but they did suffer from this difficulty curve from cheating on simple stuff that was intended to build you up to be able to handle the big stuff.
Ultimately, learners need to not cheat on the 5 pound weights to be able to handle the 25 and 50 lb weights later on.
