My first startup: Pocket Alert

Hey, guys!

I'm Roman. I've been doing commercial development for over 12 years, mostly it was web applications, various CRM systems, call centers with webrtc, and so on.

I've tried to do pet projects before, but as a rule, most of them never saw the light of day and were left lying around in cloud storage and git repositories.

But this time, I realized a project that I myself have been using since the very first version. I believe that you should create products that you will use yourself.

And I am super excited to share with you some of the details about my first startup, Pocket Alert. This is a service built to send push notifications through APIs or webhooks.

Apps are available for both iOS and Android, along with a web interface that simplifies the viewing and configuration of your settings.

Pocket Alert offers a free plan for those willing to test all the available functions and a premium plan for those who receive an even greater quantity of notifications and webhooks.

Our API allows for the customization of various notifications to suit your needs. Additionally, it supports integration with numerous monitoring systems through webhooks, such as Sentry, LogRocket, Betterstack, and Zabbix, among others.

What's In?

  • Backend: Golang for efficiency and speed
  • Frontend: Developed in React to make the experience highly responsive
  • Mobile App: Made with Flutter for surety to have an equalized experience both in iOS and Android

How I Use Pocket Alert

  • Receiving notifications from Sentry and Grafana
  • To be updated on the state of backup services
  • And my favorite: to be showered with SMS messages from a compact personal device

Future Development
Our to-do list is huge: the emphasis is on developing SDKs for all major popular programming languages to make sending notifications with Pocket Alert easier. Also, we are considering the most popular monitoring systems to made secure integrations with them.

I value your comments, feedback, and suggestions without which we would not be able to make Pocket Alert better and more user-friendly.

Bonus
If you like my project and want to support me, you can use promo code DEVTO which gives 30% discount on any plan during the whole subscription.
