I'm a UX Designer and researching for designs that actually work is a big part of my design process.
Most inspirations are just images of cool websites and not examples to learn how & why that design worked.
That how I came up with this idea.
Here’s an example of the resource:
Imagine you’re designing a website for a store, selling furniture’s from cozy sofas to affordable chairs.
- if you’re aiming to sell cozy & comfortable sofas:
Use a background image where your sofa is on the beach, this can evoke feelings of relaxation & comfort.
Now, that high-value sofa doesn’t seem so expensive anymore, right? because people are focusing on how relaxing it would be to sit on that.
- And if you’re aiming to sell an affordable chair:
Use a background image featuring a subtle pattern of coins or cash, anything that can remind people of money, this could subconsciously trigger thoughts of saving money and getting a good deal.
Now, that affordable chair will look like a better option and becomes an irresistible steal!
Proof:
It has been researched by Dr. Robert Cialdini and was well written in his book – Pre-Suasion.
