Who's looking for open source contributors? (week 55)

Open Source thrives through shared efforts. Whether you're a newcomer or a veteran, we're here to encourage your contributions, motivate your endeavors, and provide valuable assistance to maintainers. Together, we are building amazing things!

Tell us about your project

Promote your project by providing a link to the repo. Everyone who posted in previous weeks is welcome back this week, as always 😄

Open Source should be a welcoming space for contributors. The README is the front door of your project. If you'd like to check out an example of a README, here's our OpenSauced/insights README.

If you submit please have the following in your repo to make it welcoming and helpful for contributors:

  1. README.md
  2. CONTRIBUTING.md

Feel free to drop your issues and repos in the OpenSauced Discord #👀-looking-for-contributors channel at any time!

If you're new to open source, and you're not sure where to start, check out our Intro to Open Source course.

Finally, consider reading the Best Practices for Maintainers.

Just a note to say, we've restarted this post from something Ben was doing for a while :star-struck:

Happy contributing!

Highly appreciate your coordination effort. The most important aspect of open source isn't coding or technical details but bringing people together and creating a community or ecosystem. I can see that you very much have that community building skill, kudos!

I have a bunch of small side-projects written in the past which might act as good first contribution, especially if you're into python development.

  • siterank - Command line program to get global ranking for a website or domain.
  • tuxdrive - Console based DIY Google Drive client.
  • distroverify - Program to verify integrity of a Linux distro file (*.iso).
  • VTScan - Command Line Tool to scan files for using the VirusTotal online API.

Thank you for your time and for maintaining this.

I would love to get help with Projectsveltos

Projectsveltos Kubernetes add-on controller simplifies the deployment and management of add-ons and applications across numerous Kubernetes clusters. It offers support for Helm charts, YAMLs, and Kustomize. With Sveltos, automating the add-on deployment process becomes effortless, ensuring consistency throughout your cluster environments. Additionally, Sveltos provides a solution for platform admins to easily manage permissions for tenant admins, thereby facilitating multi-tenancy.

Thank you for your time and for maintaining this "Looking for Contributors series"! I need collaborators for the React open source project, Before I Die Code. 🌟An open source project that helps developers make their first pull request and contribute to open source projects. 🚀🎯 Developers can contribute by sharing what they want to do before they die. 💡🔗

There is a lengthy RoadMap I have outlined for this project for continual enhancement and growth. These are first version ideas and would love for more ideas to help with adding and contributing to the data input for this project.

This is a great beginner project!

Current issue:

We need more contributors to add their information to the JSON file and include two images that will then be seen on the Before I Die Code image gallery on the website. To contribute and start, first read the README and then begin following along on our CONTRIBUTIONS-GUIDELINES file. Let's get after it!!!!

The tech stack: React⚛️, HTML, CSS, Javascript and Vercel (deployment). I would like to add more tech to the projects for example using the Python for analyzing the data of contributors' locations in your open-source project and creating a high-quality UI design map to display their locations, you can use the Python library called "Leafmap".

Have a great day!

I’m not sure what you mean here. Can you add more context?

Is there any platform where people are looking for contributors? Asking on dev.to is nice, but maybe I'm missing most of the posts, if I'm not checking every week?

Maintainers who are using GitHub have issues on their repos, so you can explore there.

I do these posts every Friday, so it's pretty consistent. We also have folks in the OpenSauced discord posting. You can explore repositories on our site as well.
