If you work with a great many languages, which don't overlap well enough in IDE support, then the number+size of those IDEs becomes a factor (at least, if you want them all to be open at the same time). I'd however wager that there is sufficient variation between developer circumstances there, to make the above general dismissal of IDEs invalid/wrong.
