To be honest, this is fairly hyperbolic. Sure, the framework comes with car parts on top of bike parts; however, the mere presence of stuff you don't need is not reason enough to avoid said framework. If all you need is one TINY piece, then sure, ditch the framework. The places I would agree with you more is when facing power, space, or bandwidth constraints. Then the framework is setting the floor for your application/ website/ whatever.
