Introduction

The Vrat Katha: A Poor Brahmin's Devotion
A long time ago in a small city in India, lived a petty Brahmin along with his wife. Although they were extremely dedicated to Lord Shiva but they were stricken by in poverty. Their lives were filled with hardships: a lack of food as well as a lack of shelter and an unreliable income. But they never stopped to offer prayers to Lord Shiva with complete faith.

The couple instantly decided to adhere to the vrat. On Mondays, the couple would observe a fast and pray to Lord Shiva and listen to the tale about his blessings divine.
As time went on, things began to change. The Brahmin were able to find jobs in cities Their income increased and they gradually gained financial stability and were regarded as a respected within the society. With the help of Lord Shiva the Brahmins' life was completely changed.
How to Observe Shiv Ji's Somvar Vrat
Get up early and shower. Dress in fresh clothes.
Offer milk, water honey and bel leaf Dhatura, as well as Ganga jal for the Shivling.
Sing "AUM nmH shvaay" with fervour.
You can observe a fast, either with fruits or drinking water during the entire day.
Read or listen to the Shiv Vrat Katha during the daytime.
Illuminate an evening lamp and dance Shiva Aarti.
Importance of the Vrat
