If you need a bit more flexibility, I would recommend Greasemonkey, which is a browser add-on that allows the user to write scripts that affect certain websites. There are also a host of community scripts available to use!
Personally, I use it to prevent my Facebook news feed from loading. Other people can still interact with me, but I waste far less time endlessly scrolling.
