Let’s look at the key fixes included.

AI Highlights

Smarter, context-aware AI assistance

The AI chat in Bold BI is now smarter and more conversational. With conversation history retention, your AI assistant remembers previous interactions, allowing for context-aware responses. Whether you’re analyzing sales trends or drilling into performance metrics, you can now continue a natural conversation without repeating questions. This improvement makes data exploration more intuitive and efficient—perfect for teams seeking insights without switching between dashboards or filters.

Automated insight summaries

We’ve also added scheduled summarization, which automatically delivers key insights from your data at specific times. You no longer need to manually open dashboards to stay informed—Bold BI can now summarize crucial trends for you, keeping decision-makers up to date with zero effort.

Designer and Server Enhancements

Improving accessibility with keyboard and screen reader support

Bold BI now supports keyboard navigation and screen readers in dashboard viewer mode with limited functionality. This enhancement allows users to navigate dashboards without relying on a mouse and ensures better usability for users with visual impairments.

Introducing widget-specific parameter mapping in dashboard

Dashboard parameters can now be mapped to individual widgets for targeted control and personalized data views. This allows specific visuals to respond to user selections without impacting the entire dashboard. The result is more flexible interactivity, enabling tailored workflows and context-aware insights.

Introducing Azure maps widget in Bold BI

We have integrated the Azure maps widget (Beta) into the Bold BI application. This update responds to the deprecation of the Bing Maps control, ensuring continued support and retaining performance.

V2 Charts enhancements

Added various enhancements for V2 charts, including linking, filtering, trendlines, chart type switching, color customization and drill-down functionality.

  • Linking: Dashboard visualization widgets can be linked directly to valid web URLs.
  • Filtering: Transforms the widget into a filter, enabling it to filter listener widgets based on its internal selections.
  • Trendline: Analyze data patterns and overall direction directly on V2 chart widgets with integrated trendlines.
  • Chart Type Switching: Seamlessly switch between convertible chart types within a widget's view.
  • Color Customization: Customize V2 chart colors based on conditional ranges to improve visualization and clearly distinguish data points.
  • Drill-Down Functionality: Interactively explore V2 charts by drilling down to view subsequent data series.

Custom theme switching support for full server embedding

Support for custom theme switching is now available in full Server embedding using JWT claims, allowing organizations to apply their branding across embedded dashboards. This ensures a consistent and seamless user experience, especially on customer-facing platforms.

Data Sources and Data Hub Highlights

Expanded expression support across connectors

Window expressions support has now been expanded for SQL, PostgreSQL live connectors in the data sources. This allows for more advanced data calculations across a set of table rows that are related to the current row.

New Sybase connector via ODBC

Now, you can connect Sybase data connector using the ODBC connector in the Data Source. This makes it easier to integrate and visualize data from Sybase systems.

Flexible hybrid data cache customization

You can now customize hybrid data cache settings in SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL live connectors, and intermediate connectors such as CSV, Web, Google Sheets, and others within the Data Source. This feature can enhance widget rendering performance, reduce server load and overload, and improve overall dashboard rendering efficiency.

Improved upgrade utility for extract mode sources

You can now upgrade intermediate details in SYDJ for extract mode data sources with built-in utility support. This reduces manual effort and speeds up the update process, making data management more efficient.

Level of Detail (LOD) expressions for deeper insights

We have added support for LOD (Level of Detail) expressions in SQL and PostgreSQL live connectors within the Data Source panel. This enhancement allows you to specify the granularity or level of detail at which calculations are performed, independently of the view's current level of aggregation.

Embedding Enhancements

Natural language interaction in embedded dashboards

You can now use Embed Token support for Designer, Draft, Data Source, and Connection in SDK-based embedding, enabling secure and flexible integration across embedded workflows.

AI assistant in embedded dashboards

Now you can embed the AI assistant directly into JavaScript-based dashboards. This lets end users interact with embedded dashboards using natural language queries, transforming analytics from static charts into real-time, conversational insights—ideal for customer portals and SaaS platforms.

Token generation object model for SDK embedding

We have provided an object model implementation for token generation in SDK-based embedding. This allows developers to streamline the authentication process and integrate embedding capabilities more securely and efficiently into their applications.

Other Improvements and Minor Fixes

Alongside the major enhancements, Bold BI 14.1 also introduces several additional updates:

  • Security: Enhanced password protection in Data Hub by resolving encryption issues, ensuring secure credential handling across embedded environments.
  • Bug Fixes: Improved dashboard reliability by fixing widget rendering, data refresh, and export issues across multiple connectors and embedding scenarios.
  • Performance: Optimized dashboard responsiveness by improving Excel file handling and virtual scrolling, resulting in faster load times and smoother user interactions.
