I made my first rubygem to save some space on my projects repos and save some time from uploading random images from the web.
Usually I see on Ruby on Rails projects some pictures in /public folder for seeds.rb. I don't like it, because sometimes it messy...
On other RoR projects I see remote urls to random services (with placeholders for images). Sometimes websites very slow, sometimes my internet slow, sometimes I'm offline and seeds.rb is broken...
So I downloaded images from Unsplash, crop faces and wrapped it to small ruby lib.
Faces of humans, cats and dogs are available :)
gem install local_images
require 'local_images' LocalImages::Faces.local_link("param")
LocalImages::Faces.local_link("humans") => "/Users/user/.rvm/gems/ruby-2.6.5/gems/local_images-0.1.0/lib/images/faces/humans/007.jpg"
Don't forget to put gem into development section on your RoR app.
Gem Source code on GitHub.
