The whole situation is pretty weird. I was hired by a separate company and put on this team which belonged to another company. When I was 'fired' from this team, I talk to the person from the company who would have signed my paychecks. Tried to tell him this story the Monday afterwards and his immediate reaction was "Well I don't understand because [my manager] gave the work to someone whose suppose to be more junior than you and they did it no problem..." He told me that we'd speak again because he was busy and couldn't talk. Waited a couple of days, hadn't heard back and just decided to quit out of absolute frustration.
I don't mention this in the story to keep it focused on this situation for clarity but honestly, it was somewhat all over the place.
