Cosplaying 2B from NieR:Automata had been on my list for a long time.
The design is iconic, minimal, and incredibly striking. But there’s one thing I couldn’t find a clear answer to before trying it myself:
👉 Is it actually comfortable to wear all day at a convention?
So I decided to test it—here’s what I learned after spending a full day in a 2B cosplay.
- It Looks Effortless… But It’s Not
At first glance, 2B’s outfit seems simple compared to heavy armor or complex fantasy costumes.
But once you put it on, you quickly realize:
The fit needs to be precise
The fabric matters more than you expect
Small details affect overall comfort
👉 It’s a “simple-looking” cosplay that still requires planning.
- Shoes Will Decide Your Entire Day
This was the biggest lesson.
Wearing heels for hours:
Adds up quickly
Changes how you walk
Can become uncomfortable faster than expected
After a few hours, I had to slow down a lot more than usual.
💡 If I did it again, I’d definitely bring a backup pair of shoes.
- The Blindfold Is Not Practical (But Worth It)
Let’s talk about the most iconic part of 2B:
👉 The blindfold.
It looks amazing in photos, but:
It limits visibility
Makes navigation harder
Requires constant adjustment
What worked best for me:
Wear it for photos
Take it off when walking around
- Wigs Are Always the Hidden Challenge
No matter how comfortable the outfit is, wigs are a different story.
After a few hours:
Heat builds up
You start noticing the weight
Adjustments become necessary
This isn’t unique to 2B, but it’s something every cosplayer should expect.
- Social Experience Makes It Worth It
Despite the small discomforts, the overall experience was amazing.
People recognized the character instantly
I got asked for photos multiple times
Conversations started naturally
👉 That recognition factor is a huge part of why people cosplay in the first place.
- Comfort vs Accuracy Is Always a Trade-Off
This is probably the most important takeaway.
You can:
Go 100% accurate → less comfort
Adjust for comfort → slightly less accuracy
There’s no “perfect” balance—it depends on your goal.
- Would I Do It Again?
👉 Yes—but smarter.
Next time I would:
Choose slightly more flexible materials
Bring backup shoes
Take more breaks
Small changes can make a big difference over a full day.
Final Thoughts
Wearing a 2B cosplay all day is completely doable—but it’s not something you should go into unprepared.
If you plan ahead, adjust for comfort, and manage expectations, you’ll get:
A great convention experience
Strong visual impact
And some really memorable moments
And honestly—that’s what cosplay is all about.
