Loved the article, I found the graph of mental states plotted on skills vs challenges particularly spot on - although I doubt whether the flow channel would be just as broad near the origin as in the upper right corner.

As the articles focuses mostly on the context of the workplace and how it is managed, I think it may well be complemented with time management skills. After all, in this digital world it's not just colleagues walking over who distract our concentration.

Personally, I check my email once in the morning, answer them, integrate requests into my agenda and then close thunderbird until after lunch. Also, I turn off any non critical whatsapp messaging groups and check them after I produce a small chunk of work. I find this much more efficient than checking every two minutes what's being communicated. For urgent requests, phone calls are effective enough to solve issues, and if there are mission critical requests you can assign them a separate ringtone.

Thank you, David!

I'm not 100% sure about the width of the flow channel on the diagram but I tried to communicate the main idea 😊

If you are looking for time management tips, I've got two comprehensive articles on the topic:

Speaking of notifications, I like the way you manage them. I hope that you don't get phone calls with urgent issues very often so that they don't pull you out of the flow state every now and then.
