How to Unlock an iPhone Without the Password

Locked out of your iPhone because you forgot the passcode? Don’t panic — it happens to the best of us. In this video I’ll show you safe, legitimate ways to regain access to your iPhone without the passcode. Let’s jump in.

Method 1: Reset iPhone Using the ‘Forgot Passcode?’ Option (for iOS 15.2 and Later)

If your iPhone is running iOS 15.2 or newer and has an active Wi-Fi or cellular connection, you can reset it directly from the lock screen. After several failed passcode attempts, the screen will show “iPhone Unavailable” or “Security Lockout.” Tap “Forgot Passcode?” at the bottom, then select “Start iPhone Reset.” Enter your Apple ID password to sign out of your account, and tap “Erase iPhone” to confirm. Once the erasing process finishes, set up your iPhone as new by following the onscreen steps.

Method 2: Use Recovery Mode plus Finder or iTunes

The most common official way is to put the iPhone into Recovery Mode and restore it with a computer. Put the iPhone into recovery mode. Connect to a Mac or Windows PC, and open Finder or iTunes. Choose the Restore option to erase the device and reinstall iOS.
After the restore, you can set up the iPhone as new or restore from an iCloud/iTunes backup if you have one. Note: if Activation Lock is enabled, you’ll still need the Apple ID and password used on the device to reactivate it — or use the Apple Support route below.

Method 3: Erase via iCloud or Find My

If the phone is linked to your Apple ID and Find My is enabled, you can remotely erase it from iCloud official website Find My. That will wipe the device and let you set it up again. This only works if you can sign into the Apple ID that’s currently on the phone. It’s great when you’re locked out but still have access to your account on another device or via the web.

Method 4: Apple ID Recovery & Contact Apple Support

If you forgot the Apple ID password, try Apple’s account recovery flows at iforgot apple official website. If account recovery doesn’t work, contact Apple Support. If you’re the rightful owner, Apple can sometimes help after you provide proof of purchase (receipt, serial number, etc.). This is the safest, most official route if you can’t use recovery mode or iCloud.

Method 5: Use Third-Party Tool MagFone iPhone Unlocker

If you’ve tried the official methods and still need help, or you don’t have the Apple ID password but can prove ownership, a third-party solution like MagFone iPhone Unlocker can be useful.
MagFone can remove forgotten screen passcodes, bypass iPhone Unavailable or Security Lockout screens, and help with Apple ID removal in some legitimate scenarios.
You install the MagFone iPhone Unlocker desktop app, connect your iPhone, and follow the friendly on-screen steps. The tool downloads the correct firmware and performs the unlock.
