You speak the truth! It's honestly misleading how many success stories there are out there, not to say that can't happen, just not as common as one may think when surfing the wonderful net.
My journey was long and has many turns as I never had a full time web development position, but always did it on the side. Until about beginning of the year, I started working full time on a project and picked up so many modern dev tools and loving every second of it, even the frustrating parts!
