General Formula:

  • You can use the following formula to highlight the rows and columns.

=OR($A1=row_val,A$1=col_val)

Syntax Explanations:

  • OR – In Excel, the OR function helps to test multiple conditions at the same time.
  • Absolute Reference – TheAbsolute reference is an actual fixed location in a worksheet.
  • Row_Value – It represents the row value from your worksheet.
  • Column_Value – It represents the column value from your worksheet.
  • A1 – It represents the input values from your worksheet.
  • Criteria – It specified the criteria value.
  • Comma symbol (,) – It is a separator that helps to separate a list of values.
  • Parenthesis () – The main purpose of this symbol is to group the elements.
