I'm curious how you would handle the alternate-colour spots on the tail, nevermind getting the shape slightly closer. You've used cut-off gradients a lot previously, but I gather that wouldn't manage the rounded nature of the spots either. Since it's 7 spots, we're talking at least three elements, right?
I wanted to add them initially, but needed so much tinkering..
I started with a rounded shape and then using a dotted border actually. It came pretty close!

Oh, yeah, a dotted border combined with a rounded shape makes a lot of sense for that!
