I don't understand why this comparison is necessary.
As a matter of fact: we as a community still have work to do to create an inclusive environment that everyone enjoys being part of.
And there is no good reason to not have this inclusive environment. How much would it hurt you or me to use gender neutral pronouns in blog posts. Exactly, it doesn't hurt at all.
It does not matter how severe this problem of non inclusive language is. In fact, this is anyways a very subjective feeling.
