1-OUTREACHY

Outreachy has internship projects in both open source and open science. Outreachy internship projects may include programming, research, user experience, documentation, graphical design, data science, marketing, user advocacy, event planning, and more.Outreachy’s goal is to increase diversity in open source. Outreachy’s goal is to increase diversity in open source. Outreachy internships run twice a year, May to August and December to March.

Outreachy expressly invites applicants who are women (both cis and trans), trans men, non-binary people, and genderqueer people to apply.

Eligibility Rules:

  • You must be 18 years of age or older by May 29, 2023

  • You must be available for a full-time internship. Outreachy interns work 30 hours per week. The internship runs from May 29, 2023 to Aug. 25, 2023.

Rules for students:

  • University students must have 42 consecutive days free from school and exams during the internship period.

  • Students must apply to the correct internship cohort (see rules below).

SOME IMPORTANT RULES:

Students in India are considered to be in the northern hemisphere,so they will only be eligible for the May to August internship cohort.

  • We do not consider the individual student’s course load. We do not consider special arrangements students have made with their university. Students who plan on taking a school term off to pursue an internship are not eligible for Outreachy. We cannot accept letters from universities about pausing classes or joining classes at a later date. HOW TO APPLY:

All accepted interns must sign an intern agreement. This is a legal document that certifies you are eligible to apply for Outreachy, and that all the eligibility information you supply in your application is truthful.

2-Women Engineers

Women have been shaping computing since its early days. However, today women hold less than 26% of the global tech workforce.

Women Engineers (WE), a 24-month immersive and LIVE online learning experiential program offered by TalentSprint and supported by Google, selects, trains, and nurtures deserving first-year women engineering students to become world-class software engineers. A 100% scholarship that covers the complete program fee along with a rewarding cash scholarship are offered to the selected participants

Eligibility Criteria

This program is for you if the following statements describe you

  • Love the idea of a great tech career

  • A woman student currently in the first year of B. Tech. / B. E. Specialising in IT / CSE / ECE / EEE / Maths / Applied Maths or equivalent

  • Scored over 70% in both X and XII

3-Generation Google Scholarship (APAC)

The Generation Google Scholarship: for women in computer science was established to help students pursuing computer science degrees excel in technology and become leaders in the field. Selected students will receive $2,500 USD for the 2023–2024 academic year. The Generation Google Scholarship: for women in computer science will be awarded based on the strength of each candidate’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, demonstrated leadership, and academic performance.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to apply, applicants must:

  • Be currently enrolled as a full-time second or third year undergraduate student at an accredited university in Asia Pacific for the 2022–2023 academic year

  • Intend to continue pursuing a full-time Bachelors program at an accredited university in Asia Pacific for the 2023–2024 academic year

  • Be studying computer science, computer engineering, or a closely related technical field

  • Demonstrate a strong academic record

  • Exemplify leadership and demonstrate passion for improving representation of underrepresented groups in computer science and technology

You will be asked to complete an online application which includes:

  • General background information (e.g. contact information and details about your current and intended universities)

  • Resume/CV

  • Academic transcripts from your current institution

  • Responses to short answer essay questions

4-MICROSOFT CODESS PROGRAM

Codess is a community for female coders initiated by Microsoft established to open up more ways to promote gender diversity in the engineering field. Microsoft Codess has been inspiring women in engineering and technology and helping tech-savvy females to achieve their professional goals. In India, this program focuses only on female students.

Eligibility:

  • 2nd-year female students pursuing BE/B.Tech or a similar degree.

  • M.Tech 1st-year girls (across all specializations)

  • 70% in the current academic program could register for this event.

  • CGPA is equal to or greater than 7 in the current academic program.

Recruitment contains two phases:

Phase 1:

This is an online coding test, hosted on any online coding platform like Mettl, mostly in early March.

It consists of four coding questions to attempt which you need a thorough understanding of basic data structures and algorithms.

Students are selected based on their performance in this round and GPA for the next round.

Phase 2:

The Codess Networking event and Hackathon, is a fully-sponsored two-day event (at either Hyderabad or Bangalore).

DAY 1-a Fireside chat with women leaders who talked about their journey in technology, and in Microsoft, a hands-on Garage activity followed by a networking session over snacks.

DAY 2-Ideation where everyone is urged to come out of their comfort zones and are divided into teams and given some problem domains. Each team is assigned a mentor.

The teams need to come up with different innovative solutions for the problems and pitch their ideas to the judges who then decide the winning teams. This can be followed by a personal interview for an internship as well.

5-AMAZON AMAZEWOW

AmazeWoW or AmazeWiT is a development initiative with internship and FTE SDE (Full time Software Development Engineer) opportunities for Amazon in India, focused on bringing in top talent from engineering institutes. It is an initiative which gives an opportunity to women students in their final or pre-final year to work at Amazon as an intern or full time employee.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Only Female Candidates are allowed to participate.

  • BE/B.Tech/Master degree in Computer science or related stream with no backlog and CGPA greater than 6.5.

  • Candidate should have coding knowledge of any one programming language such as C, C++ or Java, etc.

  • Understanding of Design Patterns, Data Structure & Algorithm, and relational databases.

  • Should have better problem-solving skills

Note: If you have been interviewed by Amazon in the last 6 months then you can’t participate.

Selection Process:

Round 1: Online Test

It will have coding and MCQ questions that will be testing your knowledge of Data Structure and algorithms, Programming concepts, etc.

Round 2: Technical Interview

This will be a usual SDE level interview and consists of multiple rounds such as Technical Interview Round-1, Technical Interview Round-2, etc.

6-Adobe #SheCodes

The Adobe India Women-in-Technology Scholarship, is striving towards creating gender equality in science, technology and engineering domains by encouraging women to showcase their excellence in computing and technology and become future leaders and role models in the field.

Eligibility:

  • Any Indian female citizen student is eligible to apply.
  • The applicant must be enrolled as a full-time student in a formal technology 4 year BE / B.Tech education program or an Integrated ME/MS/MTech program at any Indian University or Institute at the time of applying and should be completing the program in the following Academic year.
  • The applicant should be pursuing a Major or Minor degree in the following streams: Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Information Science, Data Science, Maths, and Computing.
  • The applicant can apply to any ONE of the following two Scholarships — Adobe SheCodes Internship Scholarship OR the Adobe Global Women In Technology Scholarship.
  • Anyone who is a “related party” to an Adobe employee i.e. has a direct relationship: spouse, domestic partner, child, sibling, parents, child-in-law, parent-in-law, or sibling-in-law is not eligible to apply.

Pattern:

Round 1: It is an eliminating round conducted in two sections.

  • Aptitude and logical reasoning: 60 quantitative, logical reasoning, and verbal questions of difficulty level easy to medium to be done in 60 minutes.
  • Coding Round: Two coding questions of difficulty level easy to medium to be completed in 1 hour.

Round 2: It is a non-eliminatory pen-paper round comprising 3 sections with a total time of 30 minutes.

Round 3 (Technical interview 1): This round tests the problem-solving ability and the quality of conceptual knowledge. Some basic questions on DSA, Operating systems, testing, and some puzzles.

Round 4 (Technical Interview 2): Resume and Project discussions followed by some coding questions and operation system and OOPS questions.

Round 5 (Technical Interview 3 and Managerial Round): Less technical and more managerial questions.

Round 6 (HR Interview): Last and an eliminatory round as well. Typical HR questions.

This is a two-day virtual event with hands-on technical workshops, a team coding challenge, and professional development seminars!

Eligibility:

2nd and 3rd-year female students studying in India.

Application procedure:

Simple procedure asking for a resume and LinkedIn profile. The applications open around August-September every year.

Out of the 9,000+ applicants they had this year, 30 students were selected for the final #DevelopHer program.
