With respect to David and the time he took to write this post, I find dev.to's clickbait-y titles more and more offensive to my intelligence and a loss of my limited time to reading. I also find these purely opinionated posts not really helpful.
As to the main point, to be honest, the biggest problem I've seen in teams is not the use of libraries and frameworks but engineers who are spending their clients' and their coworkers time and money trying to do exactly that - reinvent the wheel.
You think you're Senior enough and you feel a specific library has too much for what you want? Fine, fork it and customize it.
That been said, Frontend is a world of hypes, and we suffer from that ourselves. First Angular this, then React that, now React Native etc. That's one aspect of Frontend I never liked.
