From Corporate Developer to Indie Freelancer: My Journey Building Laravel Solutions from Rural Gujarat

Hey dev community! πŸ‘‹

I'm Hardik, and I recently took the leap from being a Programmer Analyst at a logistics company to becoming a full-time indie developer. Writing this from my village in Devbhumi Dwarka district, Gujarat - proving that great code can come from anywhere!

The Transition Story

After working with Angular 18 and .NET Core Web APIs in the corporate world, I realized my true passion lay in the PHP/Laravel ecosystem. There's something beautiful about Laravel's eloquent syntax and the rapid development it enables that just clicked with me.

So in August 2025, I made the big decision - resigned from my stable job to pursue freelancing and product development full-time.

What I'm Building

πŸ”§ Laravel Plugins for CodeCanyon
I create premium Laravel plugins that solve real developer pain points. My focus is on building tools that reduce repetitive coding and provide clean, customizable UI components.

πŸ₯ SaaS Hospital Management System
Currently developing a scalable hospital management solution for small clinics and hospitals. The goal? Automate manual processes while keeping it affordable with a one-time purchase option.

πŸ’» Client Projects
From e-commerce platforms to documentation sites, I help businesses build robust web solutions using modern tech stacks.

The Tech Stack I Love

  • Backend: PHP/Laravel (my absolute favorite!), MySQL/PostgreSQL
  • Frontend: Angular, React, JavaScript/TypeScript
  • Other: .NET Core, Git, various APIs and integrations

Lessons Learned

  1. Location doesn't limit potential - Fast internet and dedication are all you need
  2. Laravel's ecosystem is incredible - From Eloquent to Filament, it's a joy to work with
  3. Building products > just services - Passive income through quality plugins is game-changing
  4. Community matters - Platforms like this help us grow together

What's Next?

My ultimate goal? Becoming a top-tier game developer while maintaining my web dev expertise. But for now, I'm focused on growing my Laravel plugin business and building that hospital SaaS.

Currently looking for:

  • Collaborations on interesting Laravel projects
  • Feedback on my CodeCanyon plugins (launching soon!)
  • Connections with other indie developers
