What I would add here is: sometimes, all that's needed is someone to encourage them to write, someone who follows up and is there with constructive input. From what I saw, it's very hard for people to muster the courage to actually DO something, so it helps when you nudge them a little bit (fun fact, just wrote an article yesterday on this :))) ).
