Inbox was completely amazing. I used it until the bitter end... by far the best email client I've ever used.

If you're interested in having your GMail work a little more like Inbox did, and have it look pretty much the same - you might be interested in using the browser extension that I am a maintainer of:

Formerly known as Inbox in Gmail

Web extension which modifies Gmailโ„ข to bring back the features and uncluttered design you knew and loved from Google's discontinued Inbox

Installing

Chrome & Microsoft Edge

The extension is now back in the Google Chrome Store! It can be add through the following link

chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/...

Firefox

Firefox Add-ons: Inbox in Gmail

Install Inbox Reborn as an unsigned Firefox addon (sometimes the version on the Firefox add-ons site is out of date):

  1. Download this repo's source code here, and unzip it where you like
  2. Create a new zip file of the main folder's content, so that there is no containing 'inbox-reborn-master' folder
  3. Make sure the Firefox setting xpinstall.signatures.required is set to false - this is done in about:config
  4. On the Firefox addons page, use the "Install Add-on From File..." on the gear menu to install the addon from theโ€ฆ

It's not amazing, or perfect - but it's free, actively maintained, and works pretty well. Give it a whirl, and let me know what you think!
