We use Sailboat retro mostly. It’s a visual way for your team to identify what pushed the project forward, as well as what held it back, reveal potential problems in the future.

We should definitely give a try to Happy-Discuss-Improve retro.

What tools do you use to held remote retrospectives?

I've used Sailboat once, it's a great retro format especially to mix things up once in a while. How is it working for you on a regular basis?

For remote retros, I can recommend parabol.co - it worked very well in combination with an audio-only Zoom meeting and screen sharing by the facilitator for us.

Besides helpful data about passed sprint in is very helpful to watch it in dynamics to reveal some problems or find the way to motivate and find a way for more joy.

For example several sprints there were much "sun" and "wind" and then suddenly it's gone. So you can pay attention to it, may be something happened and no one want to talk about it.
Or team raises risks from time to time and nothing happens to solve them, so it's also time to pay attention.
