How Functional Skills Helped Me Qualify for an NHS Job Without GCSE
I didn’t have my GCSEs, and it held me back from applying to NHS roles I was qualified for in every other way. That changed when I discovered Functional Skills qualifications, which offer a recognised and accepted path for adults who missed out earlier. I booked my Functional Skills English exam with Intech Centre’s in-centre English exam and prepared using their online Functional Skills English course.
Functional Skills is accepted across NHS recruitment, and the Functional Skills Maths Level 2 exam and Functional Skills English Level 2 exam are both City and Guilds-accredited and Ofqual-approved. I didn’t need to redo GCSEs or sit in a college for months. I simply studied at my own pace and sat the online Functional Skills English exam from home.
My result came in just under three weeks, and it opened the door to my NHS application. I also recommended the online Functional Skills Maths course to a friend, and he booked it instantly because of the 50 percent off when paired with the exam.
If you’re unsure where to start, just head over to Intech Centre’s Functional Skills hub. You can also watch free help with past papers and topic breakdowns on their YouTube channel.
I never thought I’d be eligible for an NHS job without GCSEs. Thanks to Functional Skills and the support at Intech Centre, I am now working where I once only dreamed of applying.
