I've been a professional C, Perl, PHP and Python developer.
I'm an ex-sysadmin from the late 20th century.
These days I do more Javascript and CSS and whatnot, and promote UX and accessibility.
There's more and more content I either have no interest in or find actively irritating, and I'm sure I'm missing content that does interest me because of the way the feed works. I'd love to see a way of managing a collection of filters, for example I can imagine a workflow as simple or complex as the user wants:
Select "add feed filter". Add a regex to search for.
Select "AND". Add a couple of regexes to exclude.
Select "name this filter" and call it something useful.
Select "target experience level". Add a range of "1-5".
Select "ignore topics". Add some topics.
Select "use this filter as my default feed"
Select "highlight unread posts"
Select "highlight posts by people I follow"
We could have the most awesome search system going.
Select "add global filter"
Select "ignore user". Add a user I don't want to see anymore.
This would be similar to blocking a user on any other platform, except much more configurable.
I serve the people of Texas by working as a full-stack web developer for a state agency based in Austin. When not coding, I'm exploring all that Austin has to offer (especially their restaurants!).
Yes! I would love to be able to add combinations of different filters, to make my feed align with my skill levels, interest in specific topics while ignoring others, and status of the post (e.g., unread), generating a more custom feed.
For further actions, you may consider blocking this person and/or reporting abuse
We're a place where coders share, stay up-to-date and grow their careers.
Filters and blocks.
