I guess that there's a solution to any problem, if only the developer is good enough. Maybe they need to be 11x. I bet you former employee could have done it.

Some problems (generally to do with UX) don't have a solution, and that's ok. The way forward is to move backwards up the decision tree and try a completely different approach. We all do this every day in our lives as developers on a small scale, but the concept goes out the window when it's a big project feature that's had input from a lot of people.
