A lot of times it's because it's a duplicate question or the poster didn't make an attempt to write any code at all, which is okay. But sometimes, it's just because they think the answer is too obvious to have the question on the site. They love to vote to close questions if at all possible, and they'll even ridicule you in the comments if they know the obvious answer and you don't. I definitely see how it can be hard on there for a new coder. Hope you find a better outlet, but I don't know of any.

I hear you, I was unable to post questions because my questions received a lot of downvotes even though they were legitimate questions that they refuse to answer.
