This helps clarify both what makes a star contributor at your current level, what the team values in their people, and how your hiring team thinks about promotions. It could also reveal if the company lacks clear definitions for career grading (helllllo, startups!) or, if other engineers interviewing you can't answer this question, it could point to management/communication problems within the org.
