Apple purposely blocks most new standards as well as it can, specifically Serviceworkers (push, background sync etc etc), and it will be interesting to see how they will avoid it now that it's in Webkit development.
They'll probably allow it on Mac OS and block it on iOS where they block all competing browsers.
