I think I agree with you and that you're not in disagreement with my point #1. What I meant by being realistic in point #1 is not that you should drop your goals but that you don't need to hold your feet to the fire in regards to deadlines like you would at your job. It's okay to spread your goals out and give yourself time so you can balance all your life responsibilities in a mentally healthy way. Does that make sense?

I am a big fan of finishing what I start, and pushing myself, as I have found myself losing opportunities in the past, because of being realistic.
Of course, I am doing this to do better planning, and focus on what matters, not to break my family and health.
