Yes indeed, the comparison I mentioned here is that ATF running costs, no data transfer, is equivalent to running an r5.xlarge on-demand 24x7. You'll almost certainly be using something a lot smaller and cheaper for your purposes so a large part of what you're paying for here is convenience. That convenience is pretty good though - lots of integration for authentication, plus security, etc. It boils down to the pros and cons of most managed services :)
