Sport Industry Uses AR Technology For Athletes' Swim Goggles

“AR technology is spreading its wings to transform the sports industry & push it towards its betterment. Take a look further to learn more about how it's being done.”

To relish an interactive experience of a real-world environment, the masses turn to AR technology. It basically enhances the object that resides in the real world with the help of computer generated perceptual information. From the education industry to healthcare and now in sports, this technology is pushing the development forward and is leading the revolution in different sectors. Let us know more about how it is triggering the alteration in the sports industry with a proper example.

AR-bases Swim Goggles

A Vancouver-bases sports technology company, called Form created AR swim goggles for the athletes. The startup has also raised a total amount of $12 million CAD in its Series A funding. It was conducted by an undisclosed set of family offices in Denmark and the United Kingdom. And that is not all, it also received strong participation from Silicon Valley Bank. The company kept the equity to debt ratio a secret.

How The Funding Will Be Used?

The generated funding would be used to geographically expand the company. It will not only be used to upscale the product teams and e-commerce, but it will also be used to invest in all the Form's products and services. With a proper strategy for branding and marketing, the necessary steps to escalate the revenue funnel would be taken.

Ever since its last launch in August, Form has shown rapid growth. In just the first few months of initiating the operations, they received different shipments for over 10,000 googles from their website. The Founder and CEO of Form Dan Eisenhardt, is certain about the upheaving future of the brand.

The available investments will let the company add funds into the developed products, the entire brand, and sales expansion. This would allow the company to focus on different developments that would allow the athletes with more seamless access to assess the performance metrics. They would be able to do so in real-time, which would direct them to a goal to match the level of their true potential.

The direct-to-user company was created in 2016. Within a short period of 14 years, Eisenhardt, a competitive athlete (swimmer), jumped into the sports technology in 2008. He funded the Recon Instruments, who launched a smart eyewear product. It was for the sports market in 2010, which was later taken by Intel Corporation in 2015 for a whopping million dollar deal. It was almost $175 million.

Qualities Of Goggles By Form

•It has a 16-hour battery life and retail for $199.
•Swimmers can benefit it using it to carefully analyze the performance feedback.
•It provides metrics that are thoroughly tracked and the delivery is accurate.

The data provided by the googles can be utilized for different purposes. It can be synced with the Form Swim App. Through this, the swimmers can seamlessly customize metrics, analyze their performance, improve the engagement with the coaches, and dedicatedly review the progress after every swim. It received endorsements from pro-athletes like Brent Hayden and Lionel Sanders. The brand also partnered with Polar, a sports training computer manufacturer. It will allow the swimmers to observe their heart rates even while they are swimming.
