Over the past few months, I’ve been experimenting with Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) — basically, making content and websites ready for AI-driven search experiences like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and even Google SGE.
While SEO is still king for traditional search, AEO is what makes your brand pop up in AI answers, not just search results.
💡 Here’s what I’ve learned so far:
Structured data is critical — Schema markup isn’t just “good practice” anymore; it’s essential for AI to understand your content context.
Clarity beats cleverness — AI needs clean, direct answers to index and serve in responses.
Topic authority matters — Posting consistent, niche-specific content boosts your chances of being cited by AI systems.
Speed & UX still count — Even if AI finds you, poor site experience kills conversions.
I work with DevSplit, where we’re blending AI tools, AEO tactics, and precision dev work to help brands adapt to this shift.
If you’re curious about AEO or want to share your own experiments, I’d love to swap notes in the comments.
