Definitely agree, I started making notes on my books while I read them and review them at the end of every reading session. At the end of every chapter close the book and recall the essence of the chapter.
You've got to make it a habit too, spend x amount of time every day learning just a little bit. It all adds up, compound interest is a popular term for it at the minute.
