I didn't know about this theory. But I know what he's talking about. I also prefer to hang out in private groups and channels. It feels safe, cozy, friendly and you can be open, bold, honest, goofy, can cross some lines you'd never cross in public. The "internet" in this case is just a protocol or transport, not the World Wide Web as it was meant to be.
