I've got this in my .zshrc file

if [ -x "$(command -v exa)" ]; then
    alias ls="exa"
    alias la="exa --long --all --group"
fi

Yeah, I wrap all my aliases in if clauses, that way I can share my dotfiles across systems, and not worry if e.g. exa isn't installed on that particular machine, I still have the original ls
