What shall we call it? "Community Tummler"? "Community Developer"? Let me know if you have a better name. I've settled on "Technical Community Builder" for now, in the same way that Microsoft and Amazon have Technical Product Managers.
The way I think of my role and how to phrase it would be, Technical Community Facilitator instead of builder. The two go hand in hand in many ways (good facilitation leads to more building).
For me I see facilitation as the way I can provide the most leverage. I can only build so much myself, but by being the glue I can trigger downstream things getting built far beyond what I could do myself.
Tummler: a person who makes things happen, in particular a professional entertainer or comedian whose function is to encourage an audience, guests at a resort, etc., to participate in the entertainments or activities.
