Six months is quite some time if you're unhappy. I guess the answer depends on your current situation and aspirations. You say that six months ago you were feeling stuck in your job. Is this still true? Are there any other interesting projects in sight?

In general I'd say if there is something that's really making you feel unrealised or miserable at work, be open about it to your managers and do your best to try to change it. In this case, does your manager know how you feel?

If you don't make progress within a reasonable time frame (I'd say 2-3 months is more than enough time if it appears that you're getting nowhere) then it is time to start looking for something new. Life's too short to be stuck in a job you don't enjoy.
