Self-hosted Dify has no usage meter, but its free VM got smaller

Dify's Community edition has the clean deal in the LLM-app-builder space: unlimited apps, messages and users when self-hosted; you pay only for LLM API calls. No meter to think about.

What changed recently isn't Dify — it's the free hardware people run it on. The stock advice was "put it on Oracle's free ARM VM," and that VM was halved in June to 2 OCPUs / 12 GB, with enforcement (automatic termination of oversized instances) live since August 18.

The good news: 2 cores / 12 GB still runs a production Dify fine — the compose stack (api, worker, web, db, redis, sandbox) idles well under that. What you've lost is headroom for co-tenants; Dify plus a couple of other self-hosted apps on one free VM is no longer comfortable.
