One Person Can Make A Difference

The first time I even heard of Web Development was when..

I accidentally took a multimedia design class in high school. I was trying to take a typing class but I just thought “oh well” and stayed in the class. My teacher was a football coach who needed a job and he had no idea about the subject of the class. So naturally I had no interest in the class. About a week or two later this girl walked in and she sat next to me. Sara showed me how HTML and CSS work together and that’s where it started.

I’m currently learning..

how to manage my ADHD and stay self motivated when I’m coding on my own. (If you have any advice let me know) My advisor in college also had ADHD. He was the only reason I didn’t give up. When I needed help I would go to his class room and we would go off topic 100 times before he even answered my first question.
But he saw potential in me and knew I needed help and he’s helped more than he knows.

I want to brag about...

My website Chofia.github.io because I’ve edited it 12 times and it took me a while to understand GitHub. With the help of an old friend I’ve got it up and running. (For the most part)

My advice for allies to support women and non-binary folks who code...

is to continue to reach out to women through Meetups and to help out more younger women who have football coaches as teachers and need more inspiration to get started.
