Installing Dependencies

This blog post is to teach how to install the open-wc dependency on your machine.

Before installing open-wc:
On a Mac, you will first need to make sure that you have the updated version of NodeJS installed (version 14.15.5)

Install npm on the terminal
npm install -global npm

Install yarn after npm using the same npm install command on the terminal
npm install -global yarn

After installing npm and yarn, you are ready to install open-wc

Open the terminal again and enter
npm init @open-wc

After install you will be prompted with questions. Follow this guide:

1. Scaffold a new project
2. Web Components
3. Yes for listing, testing, and demoing
4. No for TypeScript
5. type in "hello-world" for tag name in lowercase letters
6. Yes for disk and install with yarn

After following all of these steps, the open-wc dependency will successfully be installed on your machine
