How to tag a browser search term?

Our organisation wants to take advantage of the Australian Research and Development tax incentive to receive a tax reduction for our R&D activity.

One of the requirements for this is that we keep records showing how we searched for existing knowledge.

In a day I will work on a few projects as well as R&D activities - and will be doing various web searches for each.

I'd like to be able to (somehow) tag a web search so that I can identify it to the R&D activity - and I'd like to be able to report on all web searches for that activity showing the R&D tag, URL, date and time.

I haven't found a browser add-on that could help with the tagging, nor a reasonable way of reporting my search history based on this tag.

I have come across the idea of adding a tag as a "#mytag" before a search term, but in various browsers - when I try and filter my search history based on this tag, unpredictable things happen (such as the history screen being cleared).

It is likely I am not understanding something simple - but I was wondering if anyone has solved this problem and can help me to do the same?
