Finding My Niche in Tech: Exploring Data, AI/ML, and Cybersecurity as a CS Student

I’m a computer science student building a broad foundation and intentionally exploring where I want to specialize.

Through coursework, I’ve worked with Python, Java, C++, and SQL. Those languages gave me structure and fundamentals, and showed me how vast the tech landscape really is.

What I’m Exploring

Right now, I’m actively exploring three areas:

  • Data & analytics
  • AI/machine learning
  • Cybersecurity

I don’t have a final answer yet, and that’s intentional.

Learning in Public

Instead of forcing a path too early, I’m learning in public: building small projects, reflecting on what clicks, and documenting what I learn along the way. My goal isn’t to look like an expert — it’s to develop clarity through practice.

What I’ll Be Sharing Here

On this blog, I’ll be sharing:

  • What I’m learning in each area
  • Small wins and mistakes
  • How my thinking evolves as I compare paths

If you’re also figuring things out (or remember what that stage felt like), you’re in good company. If you’ve explored more than one path in tech, I’d love to hear what helped you narrow things down.
